We are delighted to announce that Richard Susskind & Company’s Retail & Leisure department have leased the Dalston Library Café to the globally acclaimed Starbucks. Acting for Hackney Council, we agreed a lease of 15 years with a rent of £30,000 per annum.
The coffee shop unit is in the multi-million pound C.R.L. James Library located on the corner of Dalston Lane next to the new Dalston Junction station. This is part of the huge regeneration project that will offer nearly 600 new homes and local amenities. With a landscaped plaza and a demised outdoor seating area its renovation will improve the local area which has seen a dramatic growth in status in recent years.
Along with Shoreditch, Dalston used to be seen as desolate area. Now through a multitude of factors including increased transport, regeneration from the Olympics, vibrant nightlife and the subsequent arrival of the arts and fashion crowd has caused a surge in its popularity. It is this regeneration that called for the library expansion, they have doubled its size whilst improving the structure, putting a focus on local education and leisure.
Now the world’s largest coffee retailers are set to join the area. Since the 1990’s Starbucks have grown to over 17,000 stores across the world and has shaped our perception idea of coffee houses. Now a welcome addition to Dalston, they will give a much needed caffeine boost to the library.
We have one remaining unit totalling 3617 sq ft with blanket A use, it has a quoting rent of £75,000 per annum.
